Komarom City

Kom´rom is a cultural, tourist and commercial centre with a population of around 20,000 on the right bank of the Danube. The roads of the Bakony, Vértes and Gerecse mountains run here from the south. Opposite, on the left bank of the Danube, the roads along the Kis-Duna, V´g, Nitra and Žitva rivers meet each other. The capital, Budapest, is 90 km away and the city of Budapest is about 120 km away. The M1 motorway, which crosses the western border, is an excellent access option for those planning to visit Komárom. In addition, the former Budapest-Vienna main road, today's main road No. 1, also passes through the city. Those arriving from the west are welcomed by the Koppány Monastery, formerly known as the Katapán Monastery, which is the main riverbed of today's Komárom, while those arriving from the east are welcomed by Szőny, which was founded by the Romans on the site of Brigetio and joined Komárom in 1977.
